N,N'-Di-Sec-Octyl-P-Phenylenediamine, also known as Rubber antioxidant 288, can be applied to polyethylene and polypropylene. It is widely used in natural rubber and synthetic rubber. It is often used to make tires and sometimes rubber hoses, tape and other industrial rubber products. It has staining and blooming properties.
Antioxidant 288 has the effect of promoting vulcanization, but it also has the disadvantage of increasing scorch and causing greater pollution, so it can only be used for dark-colored products. It can also be used in fuel oil.
